About the Puritans

I am often asked for general information about the Puritans. The links below should help people inquiring about who the Puritans were, what they believed, and so on. You might also check the History and Biography Index.

I also recommend the book Worldly Saints: the Puritans as They Really Were by Leland Ryken, published by Zondervan. Not only is it an excellent introduction to the Puritans, it has a superb bibliography. You can order it from Cumberland Valley. They can be reached at 1-800-656-0231.

The best introduction to Puritan theology is J.I. Packer's A Quest for Godliness, The Puritan View of the Christian Life, published by Crossway Books. It is also available from Cumberland Valley.
