Trouble Printing?

It often seems that printing was an afterthought with the designers of the Web browswers, and that's a pity with Puritan sermons, because they are best digested when read on the printed page.

I had trouble on my system with the version 2.0 browsers, as it was more or less impossible for me to print anything longer than one page when I was on line. I have heard of many people who have had similar problems, which vary from system to system. Here are some suggestions:

1. The complete cure is to print the PDF document, if one is available for the sermon you wish to print. PDF's are designed to be easy to print, and indeed they print better on my system than the Word originals.

2. Try downloading the page and printing it off-line. First download the page by right-clicking on the link and selecting "Save Target As" or "Save As." (With some browsers you hold down the shift key when you click.) Second, log off and start up your browser, but don't go on line. Finally, open the page and print it.

3. Download the Word document and print that. See the Word information for more details.

4. As a last resort, try selecting the entire page and copying it to your clipboard. You can then paste it into your word processor and print it that way. The formating might be distorted by this procedure, but it should still be readable.

5. The 4.x and 5.x browsers print better than the older ones. If you're using an old browser, you might try upgrading.

"Printer Friendly"?

Some sites have a link that says "Printer Friendly" along with a body of text. This is because some browsers have trouble printing pages that contain frames. Fire and Ice doesn't use frames for text pages, so that problem won't arise. You might say that all our pages are "Printer Friendly" (insofar as that is possible with current browsers!).
